Washington Sundar again showed his prowess with the bat in whites against England in the Chennai Test match. The talented all-rounder continued his great batting form and registered his second half-century in as many Test matches. Sundar got a massive boost in confidence after he scored a memorable 50 against Australia in his debut Test at Brisbane. 

The 21-year-old played two important knocks at Brisbane as India won a memorable Test series by 2-1. As a result, Sundar was given an another in the opening Test at Chennai against England. He had a below-par show with the ball but again redeemed himself with the bat as he played an excellent knock of 85 runs. 

Washington Sundar Joins An Elite List After His 50

Sundar remained unbeaten as he helped India score some useful runs in the first session on day 4. After Sundar registered yet another 50 he joined an elite list of players who have reached the 50 runs mark in their debut Test both home and away. 

Here is the exclusive list comprising big names such as former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, Suresh Raina, Hardik Pandya and Mayank Agarwal.

Meanwhile, Washington Sundar batted with a lot of confidence against all England bowlers. Especially against spinners Dom Bess and Jack Leach, Sundar looked a class apart and executed classy drives through extra cover. When he was batting with the tail then he took on James Anderson and played some eye-catching strokes down the ground. 

Sundar will again be needed to contribute with the bat when India bats in the 4th innings of the Test. The visitors are currently batting aggressively and aiming to set a target of around 400 runs for India. England is currently 83 for 4 with Joe Root and Ollie Pope batting at the crease on a lively day 4 pitch of Chennai.
