Team India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been in outrageous form with the bat and continued his brilliant run from the Test to the T20Is. Sent ahead of Shreyas Iyer at No.4, Pant released the pressure hitting a ramp shot off Jofra Archer, who looked in great rhythm so far just like he did against James Anderson in the fourth Test. Meanwhile, Anderson will be a relieved man now.
Asked to bat first by English skipper Eoin Morgan after winning the toss, India got off to the worst start possible. With Rohit Sharma rested, Shikhar Dhawan partnered KL Rahul but it lasted for only eight balls as Jofra Archer knocked off Rahul to strike early. It brought India skipper Virat Kohli in the middle but his lean patch with the bat continued.
He played a rash shot of spinner Adil Rashid but the ball arrived late failing to make a good connection only to find the mid-off fielder. In walked Rishabh Pant and he straight away set the records taking Jofra Archer for a six and a boundary. The in-form southpaw took a couple of balls to settle in before unleashing his attacking shots.
Rishabh Pant dispatches Jofra Archer for a six
If that shot in the Test match off James Anderson was incredible, this one is beyond description. Rishabh Pant premeditates the shot, wanted to throw Jofra Archer off his length and hits it all the way over the third man fielder as everyone kept looking at it. It was a sensational shot from Rishabh Pant and the English fast bowler was in utter disbelief as he walked back to his bowling run-up.
Rishabh Pant backed that six with a brilliant flick off the pads to put the pressure back on the England side.

Meanwhile, England managed to bounce back soon after with Mark Wood dismantling Shikhar Dhawan’s timber to reduce India to 20 for three. The hosts will now require a big partnership from Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant to get to a steady total and give something to the bowlers to bowl at.
