Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has said that Chris Morris is not worth 16.25 crores. The South African all-rounder became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL auction when Rajasthan Royals splashed 16.25 crores for him this year.
Till now the Proteas all-rounder has featured for the men in pink in 4 games. In those 4 matches, he has managed to score 48 runs and pick up 5 wickets. Although he did seal the game for Rajasthan against the Delhi Capitals, Kevin Pietersen believes he is being overpaid.
Morris witnessed an intense bidding war in Chennai before Rajasthan Royals managed to secure his services in Chennai. The former cricketer also believes that the Proteas all-rounder will be under pressure due to the high price tag.
“This is going to sound harsh, but he went for a lot more money than I would have ever paid for, to be completely honest. I just don’t think that he’s worth that kind of number. I think there’s pressure on him,” Kevin Pietersen said

Chris Morris has not been part of the South African setup since the 2019 World Cup. The former English captain said that he doesn’t think that Chris Morris fires consistently. He might win his team a game or two other than that he might have an ordinary season feels Kevin Pietersen.
“He’s not a first choice for the South African side. So, I think we’re expecting too much. There’s too much talked about him. I don’t think he’s the kind of guy that’s going to consistently deliver. I mean this with the greatest deal of respect.
“There’s nothing special about what he does, and if he does run-in, he’ll run in for two games. And then he’ll go missing for a few games and it’s not the kind of thing that you should be seeing. He has the attributes,” the former England batsman added.
Rajasthan Royals are currently reeling at the bottom of the points table having won just one out of the 4 games that they have played. They will be next seen in action on Saturday against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
