Dom Bess Reveals He Started ‘Hating’ Cricket During The Test Series Against India

The England off-spinner Dom Bess has confessed he started hating cricket during the Test series against India. Bess bowled brilliantly in the first Test and helped England take a 1-0 lead in the series. However, post that all went downhill for England as well as Dom Bess.

The spinner looked ordinary in the second Test as he gifted Indian batsmen several full tosses. He was even dropped for the third Test as England were no match for India and lost the series 3-1. Bess, who moved to Yorkshire recently from Somerset told that the Indian tour was a great learning curve for him.

I really did start hating cricket- Dom Bess

Bess added that the bio-bubble during the Test series wasn’t easy especially when the team wasn’t performing well. He also admitted that he took a break from cricket due to the mental fatigue of bio-bubble as he started hating the game.

“After India, I had a good break away from it, because I really did start hating cricket. It got too much at times, certainly in that bubble in India. There’s a lot of pressure going on and it was really important for me to come back and get away from it,” Bess told ESPNCricinfo in an interview.

“It was nice to get away from it (bio-bubble), because in India, in the bubble, everything was about cricket. It’s fine when you’re going well, but when things aren’t going well it is very tough. But I only see what I had in India as a great positive. It’s been a tough time really, but one hell of a learning curve for me. And in terms of where I see my game, I know what I’ve got to do,” Bess said.

Meanwhile, Dom Bess is now keen to play for England again and is hopeful he will make a comeback in the Test side. England now plays 2 Test match series against New Zealand in June in which Bess is unlikely to be part of the squad.
