England players will be unavailable in the rescheduled IPL confirmed the England and Wales Cricket Board on Thursday. As per reports, the second phase of IPL will start either from 19 or 20th September in the UAE. The final will be played on October 10. The ECB Director of Cricket, Ashley Giles has announced that England have a busy schedule in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup while confirming that they would rest players on occasions.
England are set to play New Zealand in a two-match Test series in June, following which they host Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India. The India-England Test series ends on September 14. The side will then fly to Bangladesh and Pakistan for bilateral series before the T20 World Cup. Their busy schedule leaves no window for English players to participate in IPL, which is likely to take place from mid-September to the first second week of October in the UAE.

No England Players In Rescheduled IPL 2021
“We have a full schedule. If we go from the end of the fifth Test in September, we are set to leave for Bangladesh on September 19 or 20. We have a full schedule right through including Pakistan and wherever the T20 World Cup is,” Giles said.
Giles further said that the players will be given breaks in between but that is for their workload management and recovery rather than playing franchise T20 cricket.
“We are going to have to give some of these guys a break at some point. But the intention of giving guys a break for, say, Bangladesh, wouldn’t be for them to go and play cricket elsewhere. We have to manage our schedule now, so we get our guys arriving in the best shape possible for the T20 World Cup and the Ashes.”
A host of England players played for different franchises in the IPL. While England skipper led Eoin Morgan led Kolkata Knight Riders several others like Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Tom Curran are confirmed selections for the England T20 World Cup squad.
