Pat Cummins, the no.1 Test bowler, has said he will be happy to don the captaincy for Australia if gets a chance to do so. The pacer, who has been one of Australia’s consistent performers over the years, is one of the best choices for captaincy according to former captain Michael Clarke.

“I think he’s shown he’s fit and strong enough to play all three formats now, he’s done that for the last few years. His captaincy I’ve watched tactically for New South Wales he’s been pretty good,” Clarke had stated.

While a few of them have called for Steve Smith to be reinstated, if Australia are to move on from the sandpaper-gate, Pat Cummins seems like the best choice. In a recent appearance on a YouTube channel called “Anubhav ke Anubhav”, the Australian spoke about the topic.

I am not too fussed about it – Pat Cummins

The captaincy topic was bound to come up with Pat Cummins on the show. When asked his views on the debate, Pat Cummins said he wasn’t too fussed about it. He mentioned that he’s happy to help Aaron Finch and Tim Paine in the best way possible.

“Honestly, I am not too fussed about it. I am a bowler, I love bowling and I love playing. As long as I am in the team, I am stoked and look for where I can help out. Tim Paine has been doing a great job in the Test side and Finchy with the ODI’s and T20Is. So I try and help them out as best as I can,” he said.

“In terms of future, what happens in the next few years or down the track, I don’t know. I don’t have too much experience so it’s nice that I’ve been mentioned. If it happens, then great because I’ll obviously try my best. But if it doesn’t, [it’s] also great as long as I’m still playing for Australia,” Cummins concluded.
