India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant is never shy of expressing his thoughts from behind the stumps. On Day 5 of the World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl, Rishabh Pant was heard advising Ravindra Jadeja on how to dismiss Tim Southee, who had added 30 runs to New Zealand’s score and was going all guns blazing at that moment.

Jadeja was hit for a six on the first ball of the over of the 100th over by Tim Southee. After which, Pant suggested the bowler to bowl the same delivery which he bowled against Colin De Grandhomme earlier in the innings.

Jaddu bhai, Jo Grandhomme ko daala tha, wahi daalna padega. ” Shouted Rishabh Pant from behind the wickets.

Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja had troubled Colin De Grandhomme with his quicker deliveries. Rishabh Pant’s advice against Tim Southee worked, Jadeja bowled Tim Southee for 30 runs. Southee was late on the delivery and got an inside edge onto his pads, after which the ball rolled back onto his stumps.

India lead by 32 runs going into the sixth day

New Zealand resumed play on Day 5 at 101/2, with Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor at the crease. Williamson kept fighting from one end as wickets kept falling from the other. He departed on 49 after Virat Kohli caught him off Ishant Sharma. Mohammed Shami bagged the maximum, four wickets for India in the innings. Tim Southee’s (30 off 46) and Kyle Jamieson’s (21 off 16) cameo helped New Zealand to go past India’s 217 runs and take 33-runs leads. Devon Conway top-scored in the New Zealand innings with 54 runs.

In response, India lost both the openers at 51/2. Shubman Gill got out to Tim Southee’s inswinger in the 11th over of the innings. The delivery beat the bat’s inside edge and Gill was found plumb LBW. Rohit Sharma was also adjudged LBW against Tim Southee. Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara will resume at 64/2 on the reserve of the World Test Championship finals.
