The South African Cricket Team finished fifth on the points table in the inaugural season of the ICC World Test Championship. They got off to a slow start after getting whitewashed 3-0 against India in an away Test series which was followed by a 3-1 defeat against England at home.
South Africa bounced back well in the second phase. They ended up with five wins in thirteen matches, losing all of the rest eight test matches.
