The Everest Premier League (EPL), Nepal’s domestic T20 tournament is all set to kick off on September 25. Another big cricketer has been roped in to play in the tournament. The Kathmandu Kings XI signed former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi to represent their franchise. He has played in 99 T20Is, scoring 1416 runs and bagging 98 wickets in his career.
The official Twitter handle of the Everest Premier League on Monday took to Twitter to announce the news. They wrote:

Shahid Afridi will play alongside the Leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane. The two have previously played against each other in the Afghanistan Premier League and Pakistan Super League.
“Welcome on board with Kathmandu Kings XI. All the boys are really excited to see you (Afridi) here on the field. And I personally know you are going to have a great time during your visit to Nepal. Can’t wait to see you joining the team,” said Lamichhane in a video message at the launch of the team’s campaign as quoted by Espncricinfo.

Speaking on his association with the tournament, Afridi said:
“This will be my first visit to Kathmandu. I am very excited and looking forward to visiting.” He was asked how many sixes he will hit in the tournament, to which Afridi replied, “That depends on the bowling on the day, but I will try my level best to entertain the people of Nepal.”
The Everest Premier League (EPL) was scheduled to be played in March-April last month but due to due to the ongoing pandemic it was postponed. The tournament will take place this year at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
