Sanju Samson suffers another failure at the international stage and Twitter cannot keep calm about it. It could well be his last chance in the foreseeable future once the main team is back for all the formats. The maverick keeper-batsman from Kerala is extremely talented. He has one of the most elegant strokeplay in the game, something very few can boast. In the IPL, he produces mesmerizing knocks although sporadically.
However, things take a turn for the worse when Samson plays for the national team. He averages less than 15 when playing for India in T20I’s. In his latest game, Samson was dismissed for a 3-ball duck by Wanindu Hasaranga. His struggles against the spinning ball have been exposed rather spectacularly.
Hasaranga has had Samson’s number in the T20I series. In all three games, the leg-spinner has outfoxed the Rajasthan Royals batsman. While the previous game saw him get out bowled after a struggle at the crease, today’s game saw Samson get sent back lbw.
India was already in a spot of bother at 23/2 having lost Shikhar Dhawan and Devdutt Padikkal. This was a golden opportunity for Samson to come in and play a big knock. Plenty of overs were left for the right-hander to settle in before launching. Unfortunately, it was not to be. He played all around a spinning delivery to be struck plumb in front of the stumps.
This caps off a poor tour for Samson. After showing promise in the final ODI, he has gone back to familiar ways. Social media reckoned the batsman has had too many opportunities already. Twitter, in particular, saw a plethora of memes flood in with some feeling we’ve seen enough of Sanju Samson for a while.

For the amount of talent Sanju Samson possesses his T20 numbers for India have been ordinary. 117 runs in 10 inns at SR of 110 with no 30+ score. Since 2020, he has always batted in the Top 4. With absence of regular batsmen this was a good opportunity for Sanju to make an impact
