Sanju Samson was dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga in a weird manner in the second T20I between Sri Lanka and India. Samson struggled to get going on a slow track, making 7 off 13 balls before losing his wicket.

After losing the toss once again, India was put in to bat first. It was a slow and sluggish track and the outfield was damp as well. Scoring wasn’t easy and India found that out the hard way. Having lost as many as nine players due to covid complications had already weakened second-string India.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shikhar Dhawan, and Devdutt Padikkal all got starts but perished while attempting big shots. Sanju Samson then walked in for India but he had a torrid time at the crease before he was dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga in an unconventional manner.

Samson danced down the track to a shortish delivery from Hasaranga. He was rapped on the pads and the ball trickled towards the stumps before dislodging the bails. Samson was thoroughly disappointed and had to walk off after a poor outing.

Team India set a target of 133 for Sri Lanka in the second T20I

Prior to the match, BCCI announced that the net bowlers on the tour were added to the main squad. Adding to that was the announcement of four debutantes in the match. India had only five specialist batsmen in the team and Sri Lanka took advantage by asking them to bat first.

Indian openers played cautiously and tried to launch after settling in. It didn’t work as the batsmen were outfoxed by a mixture of slow pitch and some excellent spin bowling. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with a painful 42-ball 40.

Sanju Samson and Nitish Rana struggled as well. Team India scored just eight boundaries, which is their lowest tally in a T20I where they’ve batted for the full twenty overs.
