ENG vs IND 2021: Twitter Reacts As Rain Play Spoilsport On Day 2

The Day 2 of the India tour of England’s 1st Test match was filled with a lot of action. Also, there was a lot of rain during the second day encounter between the team. Eventually, the play was called off after nonstop rain at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

The visitors looked good early on but lost 4 wickets back to back after English bowlers showed the brilliance. The opening duo of India KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma managed to build a 97 runs partnership. However, Hitman was dismissed just before lunch at a score of 36.

India suffer a mini collapse after solid foundation

Meanwhile, Cheteshwar Pujara who is also known as a modern-day wall of the Indian Test team continued his poor run. Notably, Pujara had a disappointing run in the first World Test Championship ( WTC) cycle where he averaged below 30. Also, he started the new WTC cycle with poor performance with the bat. Pujara played 16 balls in the first Test against England and was dismissed at the score of just 4. James Anderson was the one to pick the wicket of Pujara with his brilliant delivery.

Moreover, Anderson was not yet as he once again dismissed Indian captain Virat Kohli on duck. Just like Pujara, the India skipper also didn’t reach the expectations and had just a decent outing in the first WTC cycle. Soon after 3 big wickets, the Indian Test Vice-captain joined the party as he got run out at the score of 5 runs. Ajinkya Rahane was sent back to the pavilion after Jonny Bairstow’s sensational efforts on the field.

KL Rahul (57) Rishabh Pant (7) were batting after rain interrupted the play of Day 2. Also, India was trailing by 58 runs with 125/4 on board. Notably, several times rain played the spoilsport in the marquee clash between the top two sides in the world.
