On 16th August, Team India created History at Home of cricket Lord’s cricket ground, London by defeating mighty England in the second Test match of the series by the huge margin of 151 runs. At one point in time, India was pinned down and England was in dominating position to win the match. However, England captain Joe Root made a tactical error which resulted in India making a big comeback in the match and eventually winning everything. Meanwhile, this had led former English cricketer Michael Vaughan to raise a question on the non-interference of Head coach Chris Silverwood.
Notably, When India was down and out at 209 runs at the loss of 8 wickets, English bowlers tried something different. The England pace attack tried to take revenge on the senior pacer James Anderson. Notably, When James Anderson came to bat for England at no.11 position. Indian pacer Bumrah came to bowl his spell in 126th over the match. He soon went aggressive against the England tailender and bowled some fierce deliveries. Bumrah went on to deliver a nasty bouncer against Anderson which hit his helmet and led him to do get checked for a concussion.
Meanwhile, English bowlers were bowling short-pitched deliveries and not wicket-taking deliveries to Bumrah and Shami. This eventually led Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah to score crucial runs. They added 89 runs for the 9th wicket and Shami even smashed a half-century.
Can’t put into words the feelings that we’re going through after that win! So proud of the whole team 🔥 pic.twitter.com/FRH20cbujl

“Why was Silverwood not sending someone out onto the pitch with a drink, asking Root what the hell was going on”: Michael Vaughan
Talking about this terrible mistake, Michael Vaughan has raised questions on the involvement of Chris Silverwood. Also, he added that former England coach Duncan Fletcher would have intervened to change the tactics.
“The nadir came in that hour and 20 minutes before lunch on the fifth day of the second Test, which must rank among the worst stuff I’ve seen from an England Test team in years. Why was Silverwood not sending someone out onto the pitch with a drink, asking Root what the hell was going on, and getting him to change tactics? I know that is what Duncan Fletcher would have done with me had I suffered a brain-fade on the field,” wrote Vaughan
