IPL 2021: Sri Lanka Cricket Yet To Grant NOC To Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmanta Chameera For UAE Leg: Reports
Wanindu Hasaranga

Dusmanta Chameera and Wanindu Hasaranga were roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the UAE leg of IPL 2021. RCB play their first game against KKR on September 20. The UAE leg will see 31 games played across 27 days at the three venues. Meanwhile. with the addition of the two Lankan cricketers, the bowling attack of RCB looks quite formidable now.

Wanindu Hasaranga’s recent successful series against India played a huge role behind RCB picking him for the remaining season. The conditions in the UAE are perfect for Hasaranga’s style of bowling. Meanwhile, as per reports in Cricbuzz, the Sri Lankan Cricket board has not yet given the NOC to both the players. This means that their IPL participation is still not clear.

“I don’t know, I have to check. We are under lockdown till the end of the month. We have not taken any decision yet as they will have to apply for the NOCs. We are not aware of these players being selected, neither have they sought permission from us” SLC Secretary Mohan De Silva said.

Wanindu Hasaranga Finished As Top Wicket-Taker Against India

Wanindu Hasaranga was signed as a replacement for Adam Zampa, while Chameera was roped in to replace Daniel Sams. Both Australian cricketers will be missing the UAE leg due to personal reasons.

Meanwhile, one of the reasons why the board is pondering over giving them the NOC for IPL is the team’s white-ball series against South Africa. Sri Lanka will also host South Africa for three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals from September 2 to 14. Post the series, they will leave for Oman to play the T20 World Cup qualifiers.

IPL 2021 will resume in UAE on September 19 with a match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. vThe Virat Kohli-led side has had a great first half in IPL 2021 with five wins from seven matches.
