Indian Women’s Cricket Team is currently taking on the Australian Women’s Cricket Team at Oval in the one-off Test. While this has already made headlines as this is the visitors’ first-ever pink-ball Test, Smriti Mandhana’s century put India in a driver’s seat. However, captain Mithali Raj got out in a bizarre way which might create trouble for India as well.
It happened in the first ball of the 99th over when Mithali Raj got run-out. She hit to the right of short mid-wicket off Sophie Molineux and tried to take a single but it was too risky. She came nearly to the middle of the pitch but seeing the ball has been fielded by the fielder, she tried to reverse back to her crease.
But Mithali Raj slipped a bit and failed to reach despite rushing and stretching full length. Annabel Sutherland threw a direct hit and the Indian captain was just short of her crease and got out for 30 off 86 with 5 fours as well.

Really happy that I finally got through this 80s period – Smriti Mandhana
Just before the game started after dinner, Smriti Mandhana was caught up with the media. She shared her views after scoring the hundred.
“Really happy that I finally I got through this 80s period, I keep getting out in 80s and 90s and really pleased to get the hundred. Obviously disappointed as you want to get as much as you can after being set but overall really happy,” she said.
“I like the ball coming onto the bat and short ball is something I look forward to and I’m happy they bowled short and whichever were in my zone, I had to go for it. We will have to watch the weather and there is some rain forecast. We will see how it goes (on plans of any declaration) in the next one session or so and I think it really depends on the weather,” she concluded.
