The Bengal tiger recently launched his autobiography “A century is not enough”. This book has been the best seller for some time and received several accolades. Meanwhile, this former Indian captain shared his XI. He believes that the squad he picked has an ability to withstand any form of opposition.
Ganguly said that he preferred Cook over Sehwag due to his consistency and class at such a young age. It is to be noted that Cook is the only English batsman to represent 154* consecutive tests amassing over 11,000 runs.
Since Ganguly played a lot of cricket with Sachin and Dravid, he had no objection to having both of them in the squad. Though Ricky Ponting batted above the order in his entire career, Dada said that he wasn”t really following a proper batting order here and Ricky seemed to be the right man to lead this star-studded side.
He went with two full-time pacers McGrath and Steyn who troubled the opposition. It is to be noted that McGrath is the leading wicket-taker among the pacers in the longest format of the game. Kallis the only all-rounder in the squad, would act as the third seamer.
It”s quite surprising that he hadn”t named Anil Kumble in the squad, rather he went for a dangerous spin combo in the form of Warner and Murali. He believed that he is leg and off combo can put the opposition in tatters easily
