Jammu and Kashmir-born Umran Malik who plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has recently got a call up for the India A-Team for the upcoming South Africa Tour. Umran Malik’s father got emotional after knowing the news and wished his son for his future performance.
Umran Malik got into the limelight in the UAE leg of IPL 2021, after he replaced injured T-Natrajan making it into the final playing X1. He surprised everyone with his extra pace, bowling consistently at 150kph.
Speaking on his selection in the India A squad, Umran Malik’s father longs that his son will make the country proud.
“I want to congratulate the people of Jammu & Kashmir and the country on selection of Umran Malik in the India A squad for South Africa tour. I wish he plays well and make the country proud,” Umran’s father Abdul Rashid Malik was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Umran Malik’s IPL 2021 Performance
Umran Malik’s bowling has caught everyone’s eyes in the UAE leg of the Indian Premier League 2021. Bowling 150 KMPH in just his debut match in the IPL is no joke, playing against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In the 2nd match, the bowler went on to bowl the fastest delivery in IPL 2021 at that time, bowling at 153 KMPH against the Royal Challengers Bangalore, in that very same over, bowled 4 consecutive balls at over 150 KMPH which is no piece of cake.
The Sunrisers bowler and continued his form from the IPL to the yed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he picked up 6 wickets in 4 matches, and because of these outstanding performances, he’s been named in India A’s squad for the upcoming South Africa Tour which is captained by Priyank Panchal.

Malik’s father Abdul Rashid Malik, who works as a fruit vendor got very emotional after his son’s selection in the squad for the upcoming tour. He also congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir and India. Moreover, he wished his son Umran Malik the best of luck for his matches in South Africa.
