After the bizarre run out of Azhar Ali during the second test match against Australia, another batsman was involved in a hilarious run out during domestic Plunket Shield tournament played in New Zealand. Plunkett shield is one of the most premier 4-day tournaments in New Zealand.
The match was between Wellington Firebirds and Otago Volts at Basin Reserve, Wellington from 17th to 20 October. Wellington posted a massive total of 509 for 5 declared with Devon Cowey remaining not out on 203, Michael Bracewell 87, Malcom Nofal 110 and Lauchie Lohns 36 not out.
In reply, Otago Volts were in a bad position with the score at 114 for 6 when Nathan G Smith and Michael Rippon shocked the world with a hilarious run-out. Rippon played a flick short from Hamish Benett ball and two runs were easy. Rippon slipped out of the crease while the Nathan G Smith was unaware of what had taken place at the other end.
Nathan G Smith ran towards the non-strikers end only and coming half down, his partner Rippon also fell down. Smith and Rippon fell together which resulted in Laurie Johns whipped off the bails. Nathan G Smith was run out 0. In the first innings, Otago Volts were bowled out for 190. Following on, Wellington Firebirds bowled out Otago Volts for 218 runs. Wellington Firebirds won the match by an innings and101 runs.
This is the similar type of incident that took place in Abu Dhabi were Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq were involved in a bizarre run out on the 3rd day of a 2nd test match. This incident took both by surprise. It left the fans and cricketing world in splits.

Runouts are the most unfortunate way that the batsman can get out. These type of run outs makes the teams unhappy. Smith and Rippon kept seeing each other, could not get to the crease because of slipping.
WATCH: @AzharAli_ & @asadshafiq1986 involved in arguably the most bizarre cricketing dismissal of the year! 😱
About 3m outside of his crease there 🙄
But what were they talking to each other? Any guesses? 🤔
