Delhi Capitals batters David Warner and Rovman Powell lit up the Brabourne Stadium with their blazing knocks on Thursday against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. They powered the Delhi Capitals to set a target of 208 runs for the Sunrisers.
David Warner opened the innings along with Mandeep Singh for the Delhi Capitals. The franchise was in a bit of trouble having lost Mandeep and Marsh in the powerplay with 37 runs on the board. However, David Warner, who looked in tremendous touch, continued his batting assault. He and Rishabh Pant put a small partnership together before the wicket-keeper got dismissed.
Following his dismissal, Rovman Powell walked out to the crease. The Warner-Powell duo did not look back since then and started to take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad pacers. They put on 122 runs for the fourth wicket stand. Powell slammed Umran Malik for 19 runs in the final over, powering the team to 207 runs. He remained unbeaten on 67 runs off 35 balls, including three boundaries and six sixes.
On the other hand, David Warner missed out on a well-deserved century as he could not get the strike in the final over. He remained unbeaten on 92 runs off 58 balls, including twelve boundaries and three sixes. Notably, Sunrisers Hyderabad had dropped David Warner from the playing XI and had removed him as captain last season. However, his return to form has proved to be brilliant for the Delhi Capitals.

That Powell knock of 67* in 35 deliveries and the partnership of 122 between him and Warner show how to use the power hitters in T20. Push them up the order, let them face a few extra balls to set their eyes in, before unleashing the hellstorm at death overs. #IPL2022 , #SRHvsDC

It was wonderful to watch #Warner so pumped when #RovmanPowell 67(35)* was blasting it from the other end. David completely deserved his century but let Powell take the strike in the final over & the Caribbean simply destroyed express pacer Umran Malik (4 ovs 0-52)#SRH #SRHvsDC https://t.co/kB6ekOcnTS

Performing well against your ex-team when you have left them on a toxic note is what they call poetic. Played, David Warner! #DCvSRH

Wanted Warner to get a get to a hundred, but he asked me to hit as hard as I can: Rovman Powell
The 122-runs stand between David Warner and Rovman Powell was the fourth highest partnership in the Indian Premier League 2022 season. The duo earned praise from fans and pundits on social media. During the mid-innings break, Rovman Powell spoke about his partnership. He added that he wanted Warner to get to a century, however, the Australian cricketer advised him to not worry about it. Powell said,
“I was trying my best. I wanted him to get to a hundred, but he asked me to hit as hard as I could, and wasn’t bothered about his own hundred (about Warner).”
