Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan was seen fuming in the dugout after Marco Jansen bowled length deliveries in the final over against Gujarat Titans. Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan unleashed a carnage to take their team once back to the top of the points table.

Batting first, the Hyderabad franchise had posted 195 runs on the board. Wriddhiman Saha gave Gujarat a blistering start and kept them in hunt for the run chase. However, Gujarat squandered the good start losing a couple of wickets but Tewatia and Rashid took the game deep.

Everything was there to play in the 20th over with 22 runs needed for the Titans to win the game. Jansen couldn’t handle the extreme pressure of delivering in the last over and kept dishing out full length deliveries. Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan made full use of those balls, tonking them for sixes.

Muttiah Muralitharan was livid after the penultimate ball went for a maximum. Jansen had tried to go wide of Rashid who got under the ball to convert it into full toss and smacked a brilliant six. The Sri Lankan legend was angry with the length from the bowler and stood up in the dugout to say, ‘Why the hell is he bowling full?’

Marco Jansen did bowl a bouncer in the last ball with runs needed to win the match but it also went for the maximum. Rashid Khan pulled one over the fine-leg fielder to take Gujarat Titans to the top of the points table.

“He will bounce back nicely” – Muttiah Muralitharan on Marco Jansen

The young Proteas fast bowler, who had a good tournament so far, had a rare off-day in business. He conceded 62 runs in his four runs, the most by a bowler in a run chase in the history of IPL. However, Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson backed Marco Jansen to bounce back in the next game.

“He (Jansen) will bounce back nicely, there have been a number of games like these. Sometimes you are blown away by the better side, credit to them (Gujarat) as they played outstandingly well,” Williamson said at the end of the game.
