Indian cricketer Virat Kohli got out cheaply in the first innings of the ongoing fifth rescheduled Test match against England on Friday, July 1 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. He has been going through a rough patch in his career off late, failing to convert his starts in to big knocks. His dismissal has put India on the back foot in the Test match.
Virat Kohli came out to bat at number four after the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara. As he began his innings trying to get settled at the crease, rain interrupted the play. It resumed after an early lunch break was taken by the teams. However, Virat Kohli’s stay at the crease could not last more than nineteen deliveries.
In the twenty-fifth over of the innings, he got out in an unlucky fashion. Matthew Potts bowled at a sixth-stump line delivery, which swung in. Kohli, unable to decide whether to go with the shot or leave, played a half-forward defense and then tried to leave the ball. It took the inside edge and ricocheted onto his stumps.
CHOPPED ON! š±
Virat Kohli was in two minds and it has cost him his wicket. Potts has rocked the #TeamIndia top order š„

During his stay at the crease, Virat Kohli managed to score eleven runs off nineteen balls, including a couple of boundaries. This year, in six innings, the veteran cricketer has scored 200 runs at an average of 33.33. His tally includes just one fifty this year. Virat Kohli’s inconsistent run has become a cause of concern for the Indian team.
Let’s take a look at how the fans reacted to Virat Kohli’s dismissal:
Kohli needed to play on, instead he played on.

Not a great outing so far for India and certainly not for Kohli, dismissed for yet another paltry score

Don't think that Kohli dismissal was 'unlucky', as Commentators are constantly mentioning.
Was a result of lack of conviction in his leave that brought his downfall.#ENGvIND #ENGvsIND— Anuj Trivedi (@anuj10trivedi) July 1, 2022

Whenever Kohli bats, he looks set for a good score. Has barely looked scratchy despite no Centuries. Hope the second half of his career doesn't define him or stay with him. Hope there is one inning around the corner that opens the floodgates.#ENGvIND #ENGvsIND #Kohli

India in a spot of bother with half the team back in the hut
Veteran English bowler James Anderson made Shreyas Iyer his latest victim in the ongoing fifth Test match at Edgbaston. He got the Indian cricketer out for fifteen runs, off short angling in delivery. Shreyas Iyer looked to glance it but got beaten for pace. Wicketkeeper Sam Billings took the catch to send the batter back into the hut.
With half the Indian team back in the hut for just 98 runs, England seems to have got a hold of the match. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has joined Rishabh Pant at the crease for the visitors. The duo will look to re-built the Indian innings, to take their team to a safe position.
