Team India cricketer Suryakumar Yadav is in red-hot form heading into the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. He slammed a brilliant fifty in the warm-up match against Western Australia XI on Monday, October 10 at the W.A.C.A in Perth. The swashbuckling cricketer has proved himself as a match-winner over the last few years and will be India’s key player at the World Cup. Former South African pacer Dale Steyn feels Suryakumar Yadav can be India’s AB De Villiers.

In his 34-matches T20I career so far, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 1045 runs at an average of 38.70 and strike rate of 176.81. His runs tally includes nine half-centuries and a century. While speaking to the Star Sports, Dale Steyn heaped praise on Suryakumar Yadav. He termed the Indian batter as the “player to watch out for” this T20 World Cup.

“You can also get away when a bowler tries to bowl full, you can place the ball left and you can use the pace of the ball really well, given some room. So, he is a wonderful 360-degree player, and reminds me of AB de Villiers. He could be India’s version of AB de Villiers and with the red-hot form that he’s in right now, he’s a player to definitely watch out for this World Cup,” Steyn said.

Suryakumar Yadav is an all-round player: Dale Steyn

Former South African cricketer Dale Steyn further highlighted the nature of the wickets in Australia and how they could suit Suryakumar Yadav. He expressed that Suryakumar Yadav likes to play behind the square, and will enjoy batting on wickets with extra pace. Dale Steyn said,

“He’s the kind of player that likes to use the pace of the ball. He likes to get in behind the square. In places like Perth, Melbourne, all of these grounds, there is a little bit of extra pace on it. So, you can use the pace, you can hit on fine leg, behind and all along the carpet. And he’s also really good when standing still and getting off the back foot. So, he’s an all-round player, and it’s in Australia, where the wickets are so good, they are batter friendly.”
