“The Girls Have Shown The Way” – India Win Record 7th Women’s Asia Cup Title
Indian women's cricket team win the Asia Cup for the record seventh time.

The Indian women’s team saved their best performance for the Asia Cup 2022 final as they thumped Sri Lanka to win the title at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet on October 15. Smriti Mandhana showed her skills with an unbeaten half-century, guiding India to a convincing eight-wicket win.

Indian bowlers showed skills troubling the Sri Lankan batters. Renuka Singh was the pick of bowlers for India, returning with figures of 3/5 in three overs and never allowed the opponent to recover. Sri Lanka only posted 65/9 in 20 overs.

Mandhana looked in sublime touch right from the word go with an unbeaten 51 off 25 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. On the other hand, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues failed to contribute anything. Smriti Mandhana hit a winning shot with a six helping Team Indian win its record 7th Asia Cup title since its inception in 2004.

Here we look at how various people reacted towards India’s record 7th Asia Cup title

India’s journey in Asia Cup 2022

It was a dominating performance by the Indian team in this year’s Asia Cup in Bangladesh. They lost only one match in the entire tournament against arch-rivals Pakistan. The Indian team defeated Sri Lanka, Malaysia, UAE, and Thailand in the round-robin match.

The Indian team proved too strong for Thailand winning by 74 runs in the first semi-final. They created enough pressure on Lankan batting in the Asia Cup finals as Chamari Atthapthu was run out with a lovely throw by Renuka Singh.

Smriti Mandhana could not perform well before proving her staff with 51 not out. Mandhana looked in sensational touch taking on the spinners and hitting them for big shots. It was an all-round performance from all Indian players in this year’s Asia Cup.

The Indian team was stunned by Bangladesh in the 2018 edition of the Asia Cup. They looked dominating side during this year’s tournament.
