Former India cricket Aakash Chopra has made a name for himself as the commentator with sharp analysis and on-point criticisms. Recently, he took up a new challenge as he decided to put together his best T20I XI comprising of one player from each nation. Notably, the International Cricket Council (ICC) recently came up with this innovative idea and Aakash jumped in.
With some of the best in the business dominating the shortest format of the game, it is a challenging exercise for anyone to pick one player from each country. Aakash began on highlighting the difficulties of the task before revealing his playing XI. The former Test opener went with Australia’s David Warner and England’s Jos Buttler as the opening pair.

Aakash Chopra surprisingly left out the best Indian duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the top-order. Instead, he went with New Zealand’s Colin Munro in the one-drop position while Pakistan’s Babar Azam slots in the No. 4 position.
“People must be thinking if I haven’t picked Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the top four then where will I place them, unfortunately, I can’t find a place for them as I have to pick only one Indian,” Aakash said while picking the squad.

Going forward, the cricketer-turned analyst picked South Africa’s AB de Villiers at number 5 and then slotted Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. For the No. 7 position, Aakash Chopra went with the hard-hitting all-rounder from West Indies. Shakib and Russell can also bat up the order if needed, mentioned Aakash.
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane are the two spinners in Aakash Chopra’s T20 XI. Both of them have done exceedingly well in the shortest format and deserve a place. In conclusion, the former cricketer went with Sri Lanka’s Lasith Maling and India’s Jasprit Bumrah as the two frontline pacers to sum his playing XI.
