AB de Villiers has disclosed the reason behind Virat Kohli‘s absence from the initial two Tests against England, confirming the speculation about the Indian cricketer’s personal life. Kohli, expecting his second child with Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma, withdrew from the Tests due to personal reasons, as stated by the BCCI on January 22.
Contrary to rumors about Kohli’s mother’s health, his brother Vikas Kohli clarified that their mother was in good health. In a live session on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers shared the news, revealing that he had contacted Kohli and confirmed his well-being.
“I did text him, I did hear from him, I cannot give you too much information. All I know is that he’s fine and spending a bit of time with his family that’s the reason for missing the first few Test matches. I’m not gonna confirm anything else, unfortunately. But I would love to see him back, I cannot wait to see him back whichever form or way. But he’s fine, he’s happy” said De Villiers on his YouTube channel.
De Villiers extended his best wishes to Virat and Anushka, acknowledging the family time they’re embracing. He shared a conversation with Kohli, stating, “Let me just see what he said, bear with me people. I wrote to him, ‘I’ve been wanting to check with you one thing for a while now biscuit, how are you doing?’ He said, ‘How are you, Just need to be with my family right now.’ So, yes his second child is on the way, it’s family time.”

He added “You cannot judge Virat for that, and yes we miss him but he’s made the right decision.
