Ab de Villiers is still the best batsman in the worlds when it comes to T20 cricket but shockingly he doesn’t play T20Is anymore for South Africa. The legendary batsman retired from international cricket in 2018 but now it appears he may return to play the ICC T20 world cup. The event will be held in India later this year and reports suggest that the South African coach wants Ab de Villiers to play in the tournament.
Boucher has already had a conversation with De Villiers before the IPL 2021 and he asserted that he wants to do well with the bat and dominate in the tournament. Today, De Villiers again put on a show in IPL 2021 as he smashed an unbeaten 76 in just 34 including 9 boundaries and 3 sixes.
Ab de Villiers wants to play the T20 world cup
Talking about the T20 world cup De Villiers told that he is planning to have a discussion with Boucher soon about his return to international cricket for the T20 world cup. De Villiers acknowledged that he is interested to play the T20 and if there’s a place for him in the team he would like to feature in the big tournament later this year.

“I haven’t had a discussion with [Boucher] yet, but we are lined up to have a chat somewhere during the IPL. But, yes, we already talked about it last year. He asked me if I would be interested, and I said ‘absolutely”, De Villiers said.
“At the end of the IPL we will have a look at where we are at with regards to my form, my fitness, and also the situation with his team. He has to get the best 15 together, and look at the guys that have been performing well over the last while.
“If there is no space for me, so be it. If I can slot in there, it’ll be fantastic for all these things to fall in to place.I am waiting to hear from Bouch towards the end of the IPL, and we will plan accordingly”, he added.
Meanwhile, this year South Africa have struggled in white-ball cricket against Pakistan and they certainly need a game-changer like De Villiers in their middle order. If he returns it would benefit not only South African but world cricket as everyone wants to see a genius like De Villiers play at the highest level.
