Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag hilariously congratulated Ravichandran Ashwin after the MCC updated its rule for ‘Mankading’. Incidentally, in order to legitimise the run outs at the non-striker’s end before the ball is delivered, also known as ‘Mankading’, MCC has moved the mode of dismissal from Law 41 to Law 38.
Under Law 41, the dismissal used to come used to come under the ‘unfair play’ category. Meanwhile, with the recent update, Virender Sehwag didn’t let the opportunity to pull Ashwin’s leg go begging.
Taking to Twitter, the celebrated former cricketer wrote:
“Congratulations @ashwinravi99, great week this one. First becoming second highest wicket taker in Tests for India, and now this. Ab full freedom (Now you have complete freedom) to plot such run-outs with Buttler. Ek karna zaroor (Be sure to do one).”

Incidentally, Ravichandran Ashwin has a special relationship with the ‘Mankad’ dismissal. He had infamously Mankaded Jos Butter during a game between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2019.
It triggered a wide range of debate in the cricketing fraternity with many showing support to Ashwin’s action. However, many believed that it was against the spirit of the game.
Jos Buttler and Ravichandran Ashwin to ply trade for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022
From sharing a bitter relationship due to the controversial run out to sharing the dressing room together, Buttler and Ashwin will join hands in IPL 2022.
While Rajasthan Royals retained the English cricketer, the franchise acquired the services of the veteran spinner at the IPL 2022 mega auction for INR 5 crore.
Jos Buttler shared a hilarious message from the RR social media handles for his new teammate Ravichandran Ashwin. In a video message, Buttler said:
“Hey Ash, Jos here. Don’t worry I am inside the crease, cannot wait to see you in pink for the Royals. Look forward to sharing the dressing room with you.”
To Ash, with love 💗
