“Don’t Worry, I Am Inside The Crease” – Jos Buttler Reacts After He Reunites With Ravichandran Ashwin In IPL 2022

Rajasthan Royals (RR) overseas cricketer Jos Buttler welcomed veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who was roped in the IPL 2022 auction. Ashwin was roped in for INR 5 crore on day 1 in Bengaluru.

Soon after Royals acquired Ashwin’s services prompted talks about an uneasy union of the duo after the controversial ‘Mankading’ incident of 2019. In a video message after his signing, Ravichandran Ashwin remarked that, among other things, he was especially looking forward to sharing the dressing room with Buttler.

In reply, Jos Buttler has come up with a short video message, that was shared on Rajasthan Royals’ social media pages. The English wicket-keeper batsman assured Ravichandran Ashwin that he is ‘inside the crease’, adding that he, too, is raring to share the dressing room.

“Hey Ash, Jos here. Don’t worry, I am inside the crease. Can’t wait to see you in pink for the Royals. Look forward to sharing a dressing room with you. Halla Bol,” Jos Buttler said in the video message.

Incidentally, Ravichandran Ashwin, who was with Kings XI Punjab back then, had run Jos Buttler out at the non-striker’s end before delivering the ball. It triggered a lot of debate with Ashwin facing the heat for ‘lack of sportsman spirit.’

Jos Buttler ‘absolutely fine’ with Ravichandran Ashwin’s signing – RR CEO

During a media interaction on Saturday, Rajasthan Royals CEO Jake Lukram revealed that they had a discussion with Jos Buttler ahead of the IPL 2022 auction over signing Ravichandran Ashwin.

“We spoke to Jos prior to the auction, and just talked through all of our prioritisation of players. Honestly, he didn’t even think about it (the incident). I had to sort of bring it up to just check it was okay. And he said ‘it’s absolutely fine’,” Lukram said.
