Abhishek Sharma Wishes Sister Via Video Call After Missing Her Wedding For India A Duty

Team India opener Abhishek Sharma missed his sister Komal Sharma’s wedding due to India A commitments. Komal married businessman Lovish Oberoi in Amritsar on Friday, October 3. Playing in India A’s second one-day match of the ongoing three-match series against Australia A, Abhishek sent his congratulations to the newlyweds through a video call.

Posting a screenshot of the video call on his Instagram story, Abhishek captioned it:

“Happy married life my favourites.”

In a media interaction, Komal expressed how much she missed her brother on her wedding day, saying (via TOI):

“It feels amazing. This is such a great day for me, I am tying the knot today. I am very happy and excited. I am missing my brother.”

Although Abhishek couldn’t attend his sister’s wedding, he joined the pre-wedding celebrations. Sharing a glimpse of the Haldi ceremony, he posted on Instagram:

“Marinated and ready to go 💛.”

Abhishek Sharma was out for a golden duck in India A’s one-day match against Australia A in Kanpur. The third and final match of the series is scheduled at the same venue on Sunday, October 5. India A had started the series with a commanding 171-run win. Abhishek had missed the opening game. Australia A responded in the second match, securing a nine-wicket victory via the DLS method.

Abhishek Sharma impressed fans with his explosive batting in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2025, playing a crucial role in India securing their record-extending ninth continental title. The left-hander topped the scoring charts with 314 runs in seven innings at an incredible strike rate of 200.

For his outstanding contributions, he was named Player of the Tournament. Under Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy, India went unbeaten in the tournament, winning all nine matches and defeating arch-rivals Pakistan by five wickets in the final on September 28 in Dubai.
