The Gujarat Born all-rounder Axar Patel will join Durham County Club for the final six matches. He is currently with Kings XI Punjab side for IPL season 11. He becomes 5th Indian player to join the county season with Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Varun Aaron, Ishant Sharma having signing deal with English counties.

Axar Patel will make his county debut for Durham against Glamorgan on 19th August. The left arm all-rounder then would play 5 more matches against Northamptonshire, Sussex, Middlesex, Leicester and Warwickshire.

Last year Durham finished in the last 2 positions of Division 2. Axar Patel would be giving a boost to Durham side and would help him to gain experience in England conditions.

Patel made his ODI debut on 15th June 2014 against Bangladesh. Since his debut, the all-rounder played so far 38 matches with the highest score of 38. With the ball, Patel has taken so far 45 wickets in 38 matches with best figures of 3/34.

Axar Patel is a decent option in ODI cricket who bowls stump to stump and also can be handy with the bat lower down the order. The left-handed all-rounder is number 14th in ODI bowlers ranking.

He made his IPL debut for Kings XI Punjab in 2014. Since his debut, he has scored 606 runs in 60 matches with the best score of 44. With the ball, Patel has taken so far 59 wickets in 60 matches with best figures of 4/21.

Axar Patel can be a backup option for the Indian Cricket team in upcoming World Cup 2019 along with Kuldeep Chahal, Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin and Jadeja. With the England tour coming up, the top Indian players will get used to the conditions, would be able to perform well in a long tour of England to be held in July this year.
