Aiden Markram Unveils The Key To Digvesh Rathi’s Success

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Aiden Markram offered insights into the impressive rise of mystery spinner Digvesh Rathi during the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). The 25-year-old debutant has been turning heads with standout performances, currently ranking as the team’s second-highest wicket-taker.

Rathi delivered another eye-catching performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where he claimed the wicket of his idol Sunil Narine and finished with figures of 1/33 in a high-scoring match. After his impactful display, Aiden Markram was asked what sets the young spinner apart.

The LSG opener commended Rathi for his ability to spin the ball both ways, but emphasized that it’s his precise control over line and length that has been the true key to his early success.

“Yeah, he’s different. Obviously he can take the ball both ways with a little bit of mystery about it as well. So that’s a big advantage for him, but like I said now, it all comes down to execution and he’s the one who’s holding really good lengths for us and, and enabling us to build a little bit of pressure,” said Markram in the post-match press conference.

“So I think that’s probably been his biggest strength is his control. Being able to go both ways is obviously a massive strength, but with a slightly smaller boundaries and the ball traveling, if you’re missing lengths, ultimately you’re gonna fetch. So that’s probably been his biggest weapon so far this IPL is he’s he’s been really good at holding a good length,” he added.

This time, the wrist spinner mimicked writing on the ground after taking the wicket of Sunil Narine. His economical spell played a crucial role in helping LSG apply pressure on KKR, eventually restricting them to 234/7 and securing a narrow four-run victory.

So far, Rathi has taken seven wickets in five matches, maintaining an average of 22.14 and an economy rate of 7.75. As the tournament progresses, he will be keen to maintain his impressive form for Lucknow.
