Ajantha Mendis announces retirement from all formats of the game

Srilankan mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis has announced retirement from all formats of the game. The 34-year old has been one of the most valuable assets for the side for a few years in the Sri Lankan side.

Mendis represented the Srilankan side in 19 tests,87 ODI”s and 39 T20Is respectively. He added over 288 scalps to his bag across all the formats.

Ajantha Mendis last played an ODI game in 2015 against the kiwis at Christchurch. However, he was overlooked after the inclusion of young talents in recent times. Dilruwan Perera, Akila Dhananjaya and a lot more players made their debuts during the time.

Mendis was widely known for his carrom ball in his times. He troubled the opposition with this mystery delivery and made sure to put his side on the top.

Furthermore, he holds a unique record in T20I as he has two six-wicket hauls. The one against Australia in 2011 is still one of those brilliant spells in the shortest format of the game.
