Ajinkya Rahane probably has the safest pair of hands in the Indian cricket team. He displayed it once again when he snaffled a sharp to dismiss England wicket-keeper batsman Ben Foakes. Axar Patel once again pitched it in the right area as Foakes tentatively played a half-hearted defensive shot. The ball kissed the outside edge of his bat and went to Rahane who was standing at first slip.
Rahane dived in front to complete the catch but it seemed as if the ball touched the ground and Foakes was safe. The Indian fielders too were unsure about the catch as the umpires went to the third umpire to check the catch. Rahane also felt the ball had bounced and didn’t claim the catch.
However, the replays showed that Ajinkya Rahane took an excellent low catch as he had his hands under the ball when he caught it.

The replay was shown on the big screen and team India as well as the crowd was delighted as the umpires signaled it out. Foakes was looking comfortable at the crease and against the run of play India got his important wicket courtesy of a fine catch by Ajinkya Rahane.
