All-Rounder Tanush Kotian & Young Prodigy Rugved More shine in the ongoing Kale Cup’20

Mumbai: Tanush Kotian’s superb all-round efforts with bat and ball helped Karnatak Sporting Association (KSA) defeat Muslim United Sports Club by 37 runs in a quarter-final match of the Kale Cup T20 cricket tournament and played at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana ground.

KSA deciding to bat first were reduced to 67 for 7 wickets by the 10th over. But, number 9 bat Kotian smashed a 47-ball 57 runs with five boundaries and one six, and rescued the KSA innings which closed at 158 all out in 20 overs.

Kotian along with Vinayak Bhoir 29 runs (49 balls, 2×4) stitched together a 75-run partnership from 45 ball to lift the total. Muslims United bowlers Asif Shaikh 4 for 18 and Danish Shaikh 2 for 9 were the main wicket-takers.

Muslim United struggled in their chase and they were restricted to 121 for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Rajesh Tandel 45 runs (60 balls, 4×4, 1×6) was the lone batsmen to get some runs. KSA bowling attack led by Vaibhav Mali (4 for 8) and Tanush Kotian (2 for 21) ensured victory for the team.

All-rounder Kotian was declared ‘Man of the match’.

Meanwhile, Sainath Sports Club outplayed Palghar Dahanu Taluka Sports Association recording a thumping 58-run victory,

Sainath SC amassed a massive score of 220 all out in 18.5 overs. Karan More made a quick 65 runs from just 22 balls with 3 boundries and 7 sixes. Yash Chavan contributed 54 runs from 27 balls which contained 4 boundries and 5 sixes. Nishant Patil 5 for 43 runs got the wickets.

In reply, Palghar Dahanu Taluka SA were bowled out for 162 runs in 18.5 overs. Youngsrer Rugved More defeied Sainath bowling attack scoring a rapid 90 runs in 54 and studded with 9 boundries and 6 huge sixes. But, his fine efforts went in vain. Rugved who is probably one of the youngest players in the Kale Cup displayed solid confidence as he took on the bowlers much senior to him with good confidence.

Jollwin Gonsalves 3 for 25 and Yash Chavan 3 for 34 shared most of the wickets. All-rounder Yash Chavan was named ‘Man of the match’.

In another match, Yogi Cricket Club recorded a 5-wicket victory against Wellington Cricket Club.

Batting first, Wellington CC made 114 for 7 wickets in 20 overs while Yogi Cricket Club easily chased down the target reaching 115 for 5 wickets in 18.3 overs.

Brief scores: Sainath SC 220 all out in 18.5 overs (Karan More 65 (22 balls, 3×4, 7×6), Yash Chavan 54 (27 balls, 4×4, 5×6); Nishant Patil 5 for 43) beat Palghar Dahanu Taluka SA 162 all out in 18.5 overs (Rugved More 90 (54 balls, 9×4, 6×6); Jollwin Gonsalves 3 for 25, Yash Chavan 3 for 34). Result:Sainath Sports Club won by 58 runs.

Wellington CC 114 for 7 wickets in 20 overs (Aniket Khadpe 34, Dilshad Syed 26; Ankit Soni 2 for 17, Shailesh Dubli 2 for 22) lost to Yogi Cricket Club 115 for 5 wickets in 18.3 overs (Niranjan Paradkar 76). Result: Yogi Cricket Club won by 5 wickets.

Karnataka Sporting Association 158 all out in 20 overs (Tanush Kotian 57 (47 balls, 5×4, 1×6), Vinayak Bhoir 29; Asif Shaikh 4 for 18, Danish Shaikh 2 for 9) beat Muslim United Sports Club 121 for 9 wickets in 20 overs (Rajesh Tandel 45; Vaibhav Mali 4 for 8, Tanush Kotian 2 for 21). Result:Karnataka Sporting Association won by 37 runs.
