Amidst COVID-19 Lockdown Rohit Sharma Returns To Training

Team India opener Rohit Sharma has finally returned to training after a long gap of three and a half months. Incidentally, all cricketing actions have been shut with a prevailing lockdown in the country since March 23 due to COVID-19 outbreak.

Since a very long time, BCCI has been planning a camp for the centrally contracted players at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. But it looks very unlikely that the players based in Mumbai like Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli will be permitted to join due to sobriety situation in the state’s capital.

As of today, Maharashtra is the most affected state in India and has over 70,000 active cases in the state. Moreover, about 4000 cases are coming up constantly on daily despite the obligated lockdown in several areas.

Rohit Sharma, who missed the ODI and Test series against New Zealand owing to injury, finally returned to training. He did some jogging in a park to mark his return to normal life.

In his latest Instagram post, Rohit said, “Good to be back on the park getting some work done felt like myself after a long time.

This comes right after India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara returned to training two days back. Rohit Sharma, who stays in Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai had to remain in his apartment for close to three months.

During a video chat with former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee, Rohit mentioned that he deeply misses playing those big shots as he was restricted from training due to the nationwide lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

“I am trying to follow whatever little I can. Hopefully, the gyms will open soon, and I can go there. But I am missing hitting the ball, that’s for sure. As you know, I like to hit big, so space is not enough. I just can’t wait to go out there and start hitting the ball,” said Rohit.
