The list of players for IPL 2025 RCB is complete, with Virat Kohli, Yash Dayal, and Rajat Patidar being kept by the franchise. This they let go of former captain Faf du Plessis, and he was picked by Delhi Capitals for INR 2 crore. RCB was one of those teams going into the mega auction with a big purse and buying 19 players.
They spent the big bucks on Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood and England’s Phil Salt, with both being bought for INR 12 crore. Having identified a weakness in bowling, RCB went for the experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar for INR 10.75 crore.
For INR 3 crore, the team signed Australian batter Tim David. By these acquisitions, RCB hopes to strengthen and deepen the team roster so as to challenge for the title in IPL 2025. The new formation is expected to be a boost to the team, especially during the new season.
Andy Flower discusses Virat Kohli’s potential for RCB captaincy
Andy Flower, the head coach of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), responded to rumors that Virat Kohli would captain the team in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Before the huge auction, the Bengaluru-based team released former captain Faf du Plessis; thus, they must choose a new captain for the next competition.
“Well, you’re going to have to wait for the outcome. It’s a new era that we are going into, start of a three-year cycle, and I’m sure the anticipation will be good for you,” Flower said ahead of the third season of ILT20 in the UAE.
“You can ask me as often as you like, but that communication has not happened yet,” Flower clarified.
RCB has failed to win the title despite competing in two IPL finals. RCB fell to the Rajasthan Royals in a game that was a do-or-die match in the 2024 IPL. IPL 2025 is scheduled to begin on March 14, 2025, and conclude on May 25, 2025.
