Arjun Tendulkar has been awarded a place in the Under 19 squad to tour Sri Lanka that will be played next month. He made his debut on 22nd Jan 2010 in the Under 13 tournament in Pune.
The tour comprises of two four day matches and 5 ODI matches. This year in the spirit of Cricket Global Challenge organized by the SCG, Arjun impressed with his batting skills scoring 48 off 27 balls and took also a 4 wicket haul.
Arjun Tendulkar has been selected for the 4-day matches to be played against Sri Lanka. He failed to find a place in the 5 match ODI series against Sri Lanka. He was picked in the Mumbai Under 19 One day international side for the JY Lele invitational tournament in September last year.
He was a part of a core group of Under 19 Cricketers who attended the recent camp at Zonal Cricket Academy and was watched by the Junior team selectors. Arjun Tendulkar performed well for Mumbai Under 19 squad in Cooch Behar Trophy last season taking two 5 wicket hauls and a 4 wicket haul. He picked a total of 18 wickets overall with an average of 25.22 for Mumbai.
In the two five wickets hauls, Arjun Tendulkar picked opposition, top 4 batsmen. He was the centre of attraction during Cricket Club of India’s tour of Australia last year. The left-handed fast bowler has improved his bowling action as he has become stronger, taller and loved to bowl fast from my childhood.
At the nets of Wankedhe Stadium, Mumbai ahead of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand last year, Arjun Tendulkar was watched by India’s head coach Ravi Shastri and bowling coach Bharat Arun and was impressed with bowling style.
Arjun Tendulkar also was impressive during the nets session at Lords before the South African test series, the left arm fast bowler bowled a toe-crushing Yorker to Jonny Bairstow causing an injury scare to Bairstow.
It will be a great experience for Arjun Tendulkar as the four-day squad will be led by Delhi wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat. He would be looking to make a mark in the 4-day matches.
The ODI squad will be led by Aryan Juyal.
