Team India’s veteran batter Virat Kohli has always enjoyed batting in Australia. He has continued his emphatic form on the Australian wickets, in the 2022 T20 World Cup for India. Kohli slammed his third fifty of the tournament against Bangladesh on November 2 at the Adelaide Oval. After the match, he revealed that he was the happiest to know that the T20 World Cup was going to be in Australia.

Virat Kohli smashed an unbeaten 64 off 44 deliveries, with eight boundaries and a six against Bangladesh. He is the currently leading run-scorer in the 2022 T20 World Cup. In four matches, the right-handed batter has scored 220 runs at a strike rate of 144.73, including three not-out scores.

Speaking at the post-match presentation after the Bangladesh clash, Virat Kohli expressed that his experience and game awareness came in handy while playing in Australia. He said,

“As soon as I knew the T20 world cup was going to be in Australia, I was grinning from ear to ear. I knew good cricketing shots would be the key. I knew the kind of experience and game awareness of having played in Australia will come in handy for the team. Absolutely love playing in this ground (Adelaide Oval). Right from the nets at the back, as soon as I enter, it makes me feel at home. That knock at MCG was meant to be, but when I come here, it’s like I am meant to come to Adelaide and enjoy my batting.”

I didn’t want little mistakes to curb my instincts: Virat Kohli

Team India won a close thrilling encounter against Bangladesh by five runs at the Adelaide Oval. They defended 184 runs, to secure their third win of the tournament. Speaking about the match, Virat Kohli expressed that it was a close game. He stated,

“Pretty close game. Not as close as we would have liked it to be. A good day with the bat. When I went in there was a bit of pressure. I didn’t want little mistakes to curb my instincts. I am in a happy place. Don’t want to compare it with the past.”
