England speedster James Anderson has been ruled out of the 2nd Ashes Test owing to an injury and there is certainly no doubt about the fact that England will be missing his services. Anderson is also the leading wicket-taker for England in Tests also the leading wicket-takers among pacers in Test cricket. He is well on his way to becoming the first pacer to bag 600 Test wickets. Even Australian pacer Pat Cummins also feels that the absence of James Anderson will be a massive loss for the home team.

“We haven’t really spoken about it too much, to be honest,” Cummins was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “It’s unfortunate for them that he went down early in the first game, it’s no secret that he is a massive loss. He’s been their highest wicket-taker and is arguably the best bowler in the last few Ashes series.”

“Soon as he went down I felt like there was a real opportunity in the second innings to try and get some overs to their bowlers and bat well – luckily we did,” he further added.  England has been hit hard by injuries after Mark Wood was also ruled out of the entire Ashes. Meanwhile Olly Stone is also out for a couple of weeks.

The injuries sustained to several fast bowler s has meant that Jofra Archer is all set to make his Test debut at Lord’s. The home team is hoping that Archer’s inclusion will add variety to their pace attack. However, Pat Cummins feels that Archer won’t be a problem as most of them have played with or against him in IPL and BBL.

“Some of the boys have played against Jofra at the World Cup or with him in the IPL or Big Bash League, so he is not an unknown. We’ll do our homework,” Cummins said. Archer was also nursing an injury but seems to be fit after an impressive performance for Sussex 2nd XI bagging 6 wickets and scoring a century for them.
