Ashes 2023: [WATCH] James Anderson Stunned Alex Carey With A Magical Delivery

James Anderson, a seasoned England pacer, made his mark in the first Ashes 2023 Test at Edgbaston on Sunday, Day 3. Anderson dismissed Australian Alex Carey.

Carey demonstrated his desire to score as soon as possible by hitting Anderson for two boundaries in the same over.

But the seasoned pacer came out on top. Carey thought that if he angled the ball in from the wicket area, it would pitch and straighten.

In order for the ball’s ragged back end to avoid Alex Carey’s defense and strike the stumps, he had to leave just enough space between his bat and pad when he went for the check drive. The 31-year-old retired after scoring 66 runs off 99 balls.

James Anderson had gone for a few runs prior to the wicket, which was a good reason for him to be riled up. His 1100th first-class cricket kill was also achieved with this one.

You can watch a video of the dismissal here:

James Anderson scored fortunately for England. Australia’s performance on Day 3 at 311/5 suggested that the team’s plan of action was to take shots if they fell within their hitting area.

While Alex Carey picked up the pace on the other end, Usman Khawaja continued his marathon run. James Anderson struck almost perfectly for England just as Carey and Khawaja looked to surpass England’s first-inning total.

But Australia seems to be committed to playing hard and scoring frequently, and captain Pat Cummins has also started off strong. After scoring more than fifty runs during the first hour of play, the visitors may be introducing England to their own Bazball philosophy.

Ben Stokes and Co. Will need to come up with a better plan and figure out a way to get the final few Australian wickets as soon as possible.

The hosts would prefer to take a few wickets at the very least before Day 3’s lunch break.
