Ashes 2023: [WATCH] Jonny Bairstow’s One-Handed Stunner Dismisses Mitchell Marsh In Fourth Ashes Test

England’s wicketkeeper, Jonny Bairstow, displayed exceptional skill by taking an outstanding catch to dismiss Australian middle-order batsman Mitchell Marsh during the first day of the fourth Ashes Test at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

The pivotal moment occurred in the 63rd over of the Australian innings when Chris Woakes delivered a low-length ball that induced an outside edge from Marsh. Reacting swiftly, Bairstow lunged to his right and managed to clutch the ball just before it could touch the ground, executing an absolute screamer of a catch.

This impressive catch served as a much-needed relief for Bairstow, who had been facing criticism due to his past missed chances and stumpings in the previous three Tests. The 33-year-old wicketkeeper now had an opportunity to silence his critics and reaffirm his proficiency behind the stumps.

On the other side, Mitchell Marsh had been showcasing his remarkable form in the Ashes series. Following a sensational century at Headingley, marking his return to Test cricket after four years, the Australian all-rounder continued his impressive streak, scoring a brisk 51 off just 60 balls.

However, Woakes, with his twin dismissals, brought England back into the game. Four balls before Marsh’s removal, Woakes managed to trap Cameron Green in front of the stumps, adding to the tourists’ woes.

The experienced England pacer, Stuart Broad, contributed significantly to the team’s success by making early breakthroughs in the game.
