England pacer Mark Wood has made an immediate impact making his comeback in the third Test of the 2023 Ashes series on Thursday, July 6 at Headingley, Leeds. His searing deliveries with the new ball troubled the Australian openers. Mark Wood bowled a terrific speedy delivery to dismiss Usman Khawaja in the Test.
England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first. The hosts started off on a flying note, with Stuart Broad dismissing David Warner for the 16th time in Test cricket. Warner only managed four runs in the innings. Soon Usman Khawaja too walked back to the pavilion cheaply for just thirteen runs.
In the thirteenth over, Mark Wood bowled a full and straight delivery with a hint of inswing. The ball clocked 153kmph and knocked over the leg-stump as Usman Khawaja attempted an on-drive, but got an inside edge on the ball. The delivery left the fans in awe, as the yorker dismantled Usman Khawaja’s leg stump.

England bowlers push Australia on backfoot at Lunch
England bowlers were all fired up in the first session of the third Test of the 2023 Ashes series. They have pushed Australia on the backfoot dismissing four wickets in the first session. Both the openers, David Warner, and Usman Khawaja along with Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith are back in the pavilion. Australia is 91/4 at lunch, with Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh at the crease. Stuart Broad has two wickets, while Mark Wood and Chris Woakes have one each.
