The much awaited Ashes series will be taking place right after the World tournament 2019. Played for once in two years in alternate venues, the five-match test series will be played at England this time. Experts and analysts have already started terming the semifinal as the starting point of Ashes rivalry. The series spans for a period of one and half months and the squads for the same are expected to be out in a few days from now. This will also mark the beginning of Test Championship campaign for the two sides.

The series commences on August 1st, just after the only test between England and Ireland. Defending champions Australia won the last Ashes (4-0) margin at home. Though Bairstow, Dawid Malan and Cook put up stellar shows in few games, that wasn”t enough to register a single victory in the tournament. The end result being the poms being winless during their last two Ashes outings at Australia.

A lot of new additions are expected to be a part of both the squads this time. It is worth noting that Joe Burns, Kurtis Patterson were given a go in the Sri Lankan series at home earlier this year. They were included after the sacking of their senior players Shaun Marsh and few others.

It will really be interesting to see if young talents make up the squad this time. James Pattinson”s name was always on the cards for his successful domestic stint, and the selectors might be tempted to include him to form a formidable pace attack.

On the other hand, the English will be looking to make a consistent opening pair for the series. This will be their first Ashes without the services of Alastair Cook. Though Keaton Jennings proved his class in Asian conditions, Root will be looking forward to clearing these hassles tight before the series. Anderson”s calf injury is one major setback and a further update on it is expected to be out soon.
