Asia Cup 2023: India To Organize A Camp In Alur Prior To The Tournament

The Asia Cup 2023 team will participate in a pre-tournament camp in Alur, including 14 net bowlers in the preparation phase. Starting from August 25, the Indian team will initiate a preparatory camp in Alur. Players currently in Ireland, such as Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Varma, are expected to join the camp a day later.

Insider sources indicate that the primary objective of the camp is to refine the players’ skills in anticipation of the Asia Cup 2023 competition. A senior BCCI official disclosed that the players available will arrive in Bengaluru by the evening of August 23 for the Alur camp, while those engaged in Ireland will depart on August 24.

It is anticipated that they will first return to their respective home cities before joining the Alur camp on August 25. The upcoming preparatory camp is structured not only to enhance the performance of the entire Asia Cup 2023 squad but also encompass the participation of 14 net bowlers.

“In addition to the Asia Cup squad, 14 net bowlers will be part of the Asia Cup preparatory camp. The idea is to ensure intensity and quality of net sessions is right up there and it doesn’t burn out the bowling resources,” As quoted by News 18, a representative from BCCI mentioned.

Under the guidance of the revered Rahul Dravid, the coaching staff will be present to ensure comprehensive development during the camp. The men’s senior selection committee, under the leadership of Ajit Agarkar, will also supervise the proceedings.

Special attention will be given to players returning from injuries, particularly KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer

Their performance during the camp will be closely observed as they work to regain their rhythm after an extended period away from competitive cricket. Ajit Agarkar confirmed Iyer’s complete recovery, having already participated in three 50-over matches at the NCA.

The successful comebacks of Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna have injected a sense of confidence into the Indian team in the run-up to significant white-ball tournaments like the Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup.

The management’s primary focus now revolves around sustaining the fitness of the core squad as these pivotal events draw near.
