Pakistan and Nepal are currently in a face-off during the opening match of the ongoing 2023 Asia Cup at Multan Cricket Stadium. The host team faced a challenging beginning as Fakhar Zaman got out early, putting their team in a precarious position.
Fakhar Zaman, who has recently been experiencing a difficult period, once more couldn’t make a significant impact. The left-handed batsman began cautiously and managed to hit some impressive boundaries. However, he couldn’t capitalize on the promising start and was dismissed for a low score.
In the 6th over, Nepal’s bowler KC Karan delivered a length ball angling away. Fakhar Zaman attempted a slashing shot, resulting in an outside edge. The ball evaded the wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh but he executed a perfectly timed dive to take an exceptional catch.

Fakhar Zaman accumulated 14 runs from 20 deliveries and registered three boundaries during his time at the crease. He formed a 21-run opening partnership alongside Imam-ul-Haq. Lately, Fakhar has been consistently dismissed for low scores and is aiming to reverse his fortunes in the upcoming match.
Following Fakhar Zaman’s departure, Pakistan encountered another setback as his opening companion, Imam-ul-Haq also made his way back to the pavilion. The left-handed batsman experienced a misunderstanding with captain Babar Azam, resulting in his run-out after scoring 5 runs. The host team quickly lost two wickets, managing only 25 runs on the scoreboard.
