India secured their eighth Asia Cup title by defeating Sri Lanka with ten wickets in the final held at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on Sunday, September 17.

Sri Lanka’s captain, Dasun Shanaka, chose to bat first after winning the toss, but their batsmen struggled and were dismissed for a mere 50 runs, marking their second-lowest ODI total.

The chief destroyer of this batting collapse was Mohammed Siraj, who delivered his best ODI bowling performance, taking 6/21 in seven overs. India efficiently chased down the target in 15.2 overs, sealing victory by ten wickets.

However, off the field, Rohit Sharma faced a different story as he inadvertently left his passport at the team hotel and had to request a support staff member to retrieve it for him after he had already boarded the team bus.

Rohit Sharma has a tendency to forget things, as shared by Virat Kohli in a previous interview. Kohli mentioned that the opening batsman has frequently left behind personal items and important documents, providing his teammates with plenty of amusement. The video of this latest incident in Rohit’s forgetful series has become a viral sensation on social media, delighting fans.

Returning to the match, India initiated their innings with a fresh opening pair, consisting of Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill. The duo started aggressively, hitting boundaries right from the first over.

Thanks to their attacking approach, India comfortably achieved the target in just 6.1 overs, marking their most significant victory in terms of balls remaining (263 balls). Kishan concluded unbeaten with 23 runs from 18 balls, while Gill contributed 27 not out from 19 deliveries.

This win continued India’s supremacy in the continental tournament, with the Men in Blue being the most successful team in the competition’s history, followed by Sri Lanka (six titles) and Pakistan (two titles).
