Asia Cup 2023: [WATCH] Rohit Sharma Shows Frustration After Grabbing A Challenging Catch

During India’s Asia Cup 2023 match against Nepal in Pallekele on Monday, September 4th, Rohit Sharma executed a sharp reflex catch at first slip to dismiss his counterpart Rohit Paudel. On the last delivery of the 20th over, Paudel attempted to play a delivery from Ravindra Jadeja off the back foot, although it should have been played off the front foot.

The right-handed batsman casually aimed to punch the ball through the covers but instead produced a thick edge that soared towards the first slip. Rohit Sharma showcased impressive hand-eye coordination to adapt to the ball’s path and relied on his quick reflexes to secure an excellent catch, sending Paudel back to the pavilion with only five runs to his name.

His reaction after taking the catch clearly reflected the challenging day that Team India had experienced on the field.

India had a tough time in fielding

Nepal has displayed a commendable performance against the Indian team thus far. However, Rohit Sharma’s squad is regretfully responsible for missing some straightforward catches.  Both Nepal’s opening batsmen, Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh, should have been dismissed early in the game.

Regrettably, Shreyas Iyer, Virat Kohli, and Ishan Kishan all let chances slip through their fingers within the first five overs. This allowed the openers to accumulate 65 runs and set a solid foundation for their team.

The Indian spinners have staged a comeback, with Ravindra Jadeja claiming three wickets in his seven overs. Aasif has been the standout performer with a well-compiled 58 runs, providing Nepal with an opportunity to reach a score beyond 200.

India understands the importance of improving their fielding standards and cannot afford complacency. They are eager to dismiss the Nepalese innings quickly and they bundled them for 230 in 48.2 overs as well.
