Before the showdown between Jasprit Bumrah and Babar Azam could commence, a statistic presented by the host broadcast irritated Wasim Akram. The world had eagerly awaited the clash between Babar Azam and Jasprit Bumrah.

Their previous encounter occurred during the 2021 T20 World Cup, where Babar’s Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets, ending India’s unbeaten streak against Pakistan in World Cups.

Since then, some time has passed, and India and Pakistan have faced each other three times in the past year. However, the much-anticipated face-off between Babar and Bumrah had to be delayed due to Bumrah’s injury.

Nevertheless, after several months away from the game, Bumrah has returned, and it’s likely he was eager to challenge the Pakistan captain once again. Unfortunately, the India vs. Pakistan Group A match last weekend was cancelled due to rain, further delaying this much-anticipated contest. Both Bumrah and Babar had contrasting starts in the Asia Cup.

The Babar Azam-Jasprit Bumrah rivalry is worth watching for

While Babar, the Pakistan captain, scored a century against Nepal, Bumrah, representing India, had not bowled a single over in the tournament until Monday (September 11). However, when he finally got the chance, it was a remarkable sight to behold. It appeared as though the Bumrah of old had returned, as Pakistan struggled to counter his impeccable line, length, and pace.

The moment everyone had been waiting for arrived on Monday, the reserve day for the India vs. Pakistan Super 4 clash after Sunday’s play was washed out due to rain. However, just before the battle could begin, a statistic displayed by the host broadcaster STAR left Wasim Akram frustrated. India had posted a substantial 356/2 while batting first, and during the innings break, Akram, along with Ravi Shastri, was part of the mid-innings show.

During this show, STAR conducted a poll asking viewers to choose between Bumrah and Babar. However, when the results overwhelmingly favoured the Indian pacer, Akram had difficulty accepting it and expressed his displeasure.
