Asian Games: [WATCH] Nepal Bowler Surprises Yashasvi Jaiswal With A Clever Delivery From The Umpire’s Position, Leaving Him Puzzled

In a thrilling encounter during the Asian Games 2023, Nepal bowler Karan KC’s unconventional bowling technique kept India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal uncertain. In a thrilling opening match of the Asian Games 2022-23, Indian batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal displayed his explosive hitting abilities, smashing an impressive seven sixes en route to a magnificent century.

This remarkable performance marked India’s debut in the Asian Games with a hard-fought 23-run win over Nepal. However, there was a noteworthy incident during India’s innings. This particular moment occurred on the fifth test delivery of the eighth over when Karan KC was bowling for Nepal, and Yashasvi Jaiswal was at the crease.

In an unorthodox move, Karan released the ball from a position several yards behind the wicket, nearly where the umpire typically stands. Surprisingly, the delivery was a well-pitched length ball, just above Yashasvi’s waist. Nonetheless, the young batsman failed to make contact with it.

India secured a win in a closely contested match

Upon winning the toss, Team India captain Ruturaj Gaikwad chose to bat first in their Asian Games 2023 opener. The opening pair of Gaikwad and Jaiswal wasted no time and swiftly exceeded the fifty-run mark within the initial four overs of the Powerplay.

Jaiswal, in particular, was outstanding, reaching his fifty in just 22 deliveries. While Gaikwad took a more restrained approach, Jaiswal continued to score consistently. Although the India captain later found his rhythm and hit a couple of boundaries, he was dismissed for 25 when attempting a big shot.

Yashasvi, on the other hand, maintained his aggressive batting and eventually achieved a brilliant century in only 49 balls. Late contributions from Rinku Singh (37 not out) and Shivam Dube (25 not out) further boosted India’s total to 202-4.

When Nepal came to bat, they faced the daunting challenge of chasing India’s substantial target. However, they fell short, reaching a total of 179-9 in response. Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi played pivotal roles for India, each taking three wickets, ultimately securing India’s victory in their inaugural Asian Games match.
