AUS vs PAK: [WATCH] Tearful Moments Unfold As David Warner Exits The Test Cricket Field For The Final Time

On the fourth day of the 3rd Test against Pakistan in Sydney, David Warner, the experienced Australian opener, took his final walk off the field in Test whites. Following his dismissal by off-spinner Sajid Khan, all Pakistan players showed their appreciation by applauding and patting him on the back.

In the 25th over of the run-chase, Pakistan requested a review after trapping Warner in front of the stumps. The Decision Review System (DRS) confirmed the dismissal, prompting all Pakistan players to offer congratulations.

This was followed by the crowd giving the esteemed player a standing ovation, and Steve Smith embracing him before heading out to bat.

The energetic opener achieved a half-century as Australia faced a modest target of 130 runs in the fourth innings. Following the early dismissal of Usman Khawaja, Warner and Marnus Labuschagne displayed impressive determination, relieving the pressure on the home team.

Although the partnership ended with Warner’s wicket, their 119-run collaboration and Warner’s contribution took his Test runs beyond 8700 as Australia completed a 3-0 whitewash.

During the post-match presentation, Warner expressed profound gratitude to his parents and wife, Candice, for their significant roles in his illustrious cricket career. The left-handed batsman also acknowledged the unusual feeling of no longer being part of the Australian Test team.

“Massive part of your life and without their support you can’t do what you do. I owe credit to my parents for giving me a beautiful and great upbringing. My brother Steve, I followed in his footsteps. And then Candice came along and sort of got me in line. We’ve had a beautiful family and I cherish every moment I get with them.”

“I love them to death and I’m not going to keep carrying on because I’ll get too emotional. But thank you, Candice, for what you’ve done. You mean the world to me, and I appreciate it. I think it’d be quite emotional to watch the guys go out there and not play and knowing that I was able to come out here and do what I could do.”

The 37-year-old is anticipated to conclude his international cricket career following the 2024 T20 World Cup, with the possibility of a return to white-ball formats still on the table.
